WEEK-ENDING 17th AUGUST 2019
Saturday saw Twelve of our teams competing in the 1st Round of the Irish Cup and at the end of play it was a successful day for the league. Five of our teams namely, Belfast Celtic, St James Swifts, Wakehurst and Coagh United were in opposition against Amateur League teams with all Four recording wins. Two teams Ballynure OB and Cookstown Youth met PIL opposition and both lost their games. Dunloy met a Mid-Ulster team and won on Penalties while Chimney Corner won against a Mid-Ulster in normal time. Desertmartin lost in extra-time against a North-West team.
In one of the games Cookstown RBL met Glebe Rangers which Glebe won by the odd goal in five while Donegal Celtic scratched their game away to Crewe United earlier in the week.
Saturday next will see Nine teams compete in the Steel & Sons Cup 1st Round when we will lose one team as Glebe Rangers are at home to Donegal Celtic.

INTERMEDIATE LEAGUE
MID-WEEK
St JAMES SWIFTS 4 2 BELFAST CELTIC
In this much awaited derby game St James raced into a three-goal lead with goals scored by Gary Dorrian 12th, Sean Donnelly 14th and Eugene Gallagher 18th minutes. St Jams then went four goals clear after Stephen O’Neil scored on the 34th minute putting them four nil in front at half-time. Celtic re-organised in the second half pulling a goal back after Matthew Fitzpatrick scored on the 60th minute but then had to wait until the 92nd minute for their second goal scored by Francis Dugan. CHIMNEY CORNER v DONEGAL CELTIC (Not Played)

BALLYMONEY UNITED 6 0 WAKEHURST
There was very little between the teams until Gerald Gillen scored for Ballymoney on the 38th minute. Half-time saw the single goal divide the teams then a brace of goals scored by Nicholas Kerr on the 63rd and 66th minutes saw Ballymoney three in front. Ballymoney then added three late goals with Ciaran Clarke scoring on the 81st and 89th minutes and Hugh Og Boyle on the 87th minute. Referee Mr. Paul Douglas.
DUNLOY 1 0 GLEBE RANGERS
Matches between these two teams are mostly very tight run affairs and this game certainly fell into this category. Chances came and went for both teams throughout the game with the only goal being scored by Michael O’Mullan on the 40th minute to win the game for Dunloy. Referee Mr. Mervyn McLaughlin
BRANTWOOD 1 1 BALLYNURE OB
A point each was probably the right result to this game which saw quite several good chances around goal not taken. Brantwood went in front after Luke Watters scored on the 40th minute and held this lead until Christopher McIlwaine sored the equaliser for Ballynure on the 70th minute. Referee Mr. Simon Mackay
COOKSTOWN RBL 3 6 COOKSTOWN YOUTH
The Youth went in front after Paul Stewart scored on the 4th minute and then scored his second goal on the 22nd minute. RBL got back level after an own goal on the 28th minute and Matheus Batista scoring on the 31st minute. The Youth went two goals clear again after Robbie Brown scored on the 47th minute and Barrie Kelly on the 50th minute. Jordan Steen pulled a goal back for RBL on the 70th minute then goals scored by Steven Arrell Penalty on the 88th minute and Mark Larmour on the 94th minute completed the scoring.

DESERTMARTIN 1 4 COAGH UNITED
Nothing much separated the teams in this game until Aaron Campbell scored on the 33rd minute putting Coagh in front. Stefan Thompson made it two nil on the 47th minute then Ryan Brown scored for Desertmartin on the 48th minute. Desertmartin went all-out for the equaliser after this but a brace of goals scored by Aaron Campbell on the 65th and 80th minute to complete his hat-trick sealed the win for Coagh. Saturday Intermediate League
BALLYMONEY UNITED 2 2 BRANTWOOD
Both teams had a couple of chances to go in front before Gerald Gillen scored the first goal for Ballymoney on the 35th minute then Ballymoney doubled their advantage when Lewis Magee scored on the 47th minute before half-time. Brantwood got back into the game after Stephen Leckey scored on the 65th minute then put Brantwood back level with his second goal on the 70th minute. After this both teams put up the shutters to take a point each from the game. Referee Mr. Jason Gillespie
IRISH CUP 1st ROUND
WAKEHURST 3 1 ARDS RANGERS
This was a big win for Wakehurst against the Rangers from the Premier Division of the Amateur League. Wakehurst went in front after Aaron Weir scored on the 20th minute then the Rangers equalised on the 36th minute. Wakehurst went in front for a second time after Jason Paul scored on the 49th minute followed by a third goal scored by Andy Loughlin on the 56th minute. Wakehurst had man sent off on the 75th minute then the Rangers missed a penalty on the 80th minute giving Wakehurst the win.
St JAMES SWIFTS 4 1 ABBEY VILLA
St James always had winning of this game scoring four goals through Eugene Gallagher (2), Stephen O’Neil (1) and Ryan McAuley (1) against One scored by their opponents.
COOKSTOWN RBL 2 3 GLEBE RANGERS
Glebe went in front after Robert McDonnell scored then RBL came back with goals scored by Rui Lanzinha and Matheus Batista. Glebe then got back on level terms with Robert McDonnell scoring his second goal then with extra-time beckoning Davy Reid scored the winning goal on the 88th minute,
CHIMNEY CORNER 5 1 LAURELVALE
The Corner went in front after Reece Gilmour scored on the 5th minute then had to with until the 65th minute before Reece Gilmour scored his second goal. Joel Hagan then scored a brace of goals on the 70th and 79th minutes putting the Corner Four goals clear. The visitors got a goal back scored by Richardson on the 87th minute before Joel Hagan completed his hat-trick on the 89th minute.
TULLYVALLEN 2 2(aet) DUNLOY (Dunloy win 4-3 on Penalties)
Dunloy got off to a flying start to this game with Jamie McFerran 4th minute and a second goal cored by Karl Fitzpatrick on the 8th minute. The game then quietened down after this early flurry with the home side getting back level with goals scored on the 63rd and 97th minutes. Extra-time saw no more goals then Sean Doherty in goals for Dunloy saved three of the home teams penalties and with Dunloy converting Four they go into the hat for the 2nd Round
TROJANS 3 1 DESERTMARTIN (After Extra Time)
The First goal in the game was scored by Trojans on the 44th minute then William Sufferin equalised for Desertmartin on the 67th minute. No more goals were scored thus extra-time was introduced. No goals were scored in the first-half of extra time then a converted penalty saw Trojans go in front with Five minutes left to play and a third goal which was little hard on Desertmartin for their efforts.
LIMAVADY UNITED 3 0 BALLYNURE OB
Ballynure went into the game with several first team players missing but even with a full-strength team they would have found it hard against a good Limavady team who scored Three goals without reply.
NEWINGTON YC 5 0 COOKSTOWN YOUTH
Newington with a more experienced team were a bit too strong for the Youth and went in at half-time leading by four goals to nil then scoring fifth goal in the second half.
BELFAST CELTIC 9 1 DROMORE AMATEURS.
For a second Saturday on the trot Celtic scored Nine goals but this time conceded One goal. Celtic goals were score by Darren Stuart (3), Matty Donnelly (2) and a goal each for Matthew Fitzpatrick, Darren Gallagher and Josh Lynch
DROMARA VILLAGE 3 6 COAGH UNITED (After Extra Time)
The teams shared six goals during the ninety minutes of normal time then Coagh hit three more goals in extra-time to progress to the next round. Goal-scorers for Coagh were Aaron Campbell with a hat-trick, James Ferguson (2) and Stefan Thompson
