INTERMEDIATE LEAGUE

GLEBE RANGERS 1 1 DESERTMARTIN

Both teams soon settled down in the game but tended to cancel each other out in mid-field resulting in no goals score at half-time. Thing changed in the second half with Kurtis McCartney scoring on the 66th minute putting Glebe in front. Desertmartin never gave up getting back on level terms after Ryan Brown scored on the 79th minute giving the teams a point each at the end. Referee Mr. Gary Thompson

COOKSTOWN RBL 3 4 COAGH UNITED

This was a classic derby game with the result in doubt until the 90th minute when the winning goal was scored. RBL went in front after Jordan Steen scored on the 1st minute then an own goal on the 5th minute saw Coagh back level. RBL went in front again after Matthew Scott scored on the 7th minute and held this lead until James Ferguson converted a penalty for Coagh on the 49th minute. RBL went in front for a third time after Rui Lanzinha scored on the 59th minute but goals scored by Aaron Campbell on the 79th and James Ferguson on the 90th minutes saw Coagh take all three points. BELFAST CELTIC 9 0 DONEGAL CELTIC

This much awaited derby game became a bit of a damp squib after Belfast went three goals in front with Matthew Fitzpatrick, Kevin Lynch and Seam Moore scoring on the 4th, 6th and 16th minutes. Darren Gallagher and Darren Stuart scored on the 37th and 48th minutes to make if five nil. Four goals followed scored by Francis Dougan 49th, Darren Stuart 51st and 75th to complete his hat-trick and Mark Clarke squeezed in between on the 55th minute. Referee Mr. Glenn McKinstry

St JAMES SWIFTS 6 1 CHIMNEY CORNER

St James went in front after James Heatherington scored on the 12th minute then doubled their lead after Sean Donnelly scored on the 29th minute. The Corner hit back with Reece Gilmour scoring on the 33rd minute. St James went two goals clear again after Stephen O’Neil scored on the 55th minute followed by Martin Murray scoring on the 57th minute. Eugen Gallagher made it five nil on the 79th minute followed by Martin Murray scoring his second goal on the 81st minute. Referee Mr. Jerome McElroy

DUNLOY 2 1 WAKEHURST

Both teams took a little time to settle in the game with chances having to be worked for. Wakehurst went in front after Ryan Sands scored on the 34th minute and were still in front at half-time. Wakehurst continued to lead as time was beginning to run down. Dunloy got back level after Karl Fitzpatrick scored on the 80th minute then on the 90th minute a loose ball in the Wakehurst penalty box was picked up by John John McFerran who dispatched the ball into the net for the winning goal.

STEEL & SONS CUP 1st ROUND

DUNMURRY REC 2 3 BALLYMONEY UNITED

This was a big win for Ballymoney who took a deserved lead after Trevor Parkhill scored on the 13th minute. Ballymoney then had to thank their Young Keeper Liam Coyle who saved a penalty on the 30th minute keeping Ballymoney in front at half-time. Ballymoney went two goals clear after Lewis Magee scored on the 63rd minute then saw Dunmurry scored two goal s on the 67th and 69th minutes. Ballymoney had a man sent off then on the 85th minute Trevor Parkhill broke through to score the winner for the Toon.

WEEKEND ROUND UP W/E 17/08/2019 Saturday saw Twelve of our teams competing in the 1st Round of the Irish Cup and at the end of play it was a successful day for the league.
