Four teams Belfast Athletic, Woodlands, Greencastle Rovers and Antrim Rovers had wins in the 3rd Round of the CAFA Junior Shield on Saturday to play in the 4th Round on 14thJanuary 2023. Rathcoole lost by the odd goal in five in their game.

Desertmartin Swifts won the local Derby Game against Magherafelt Sky Blues on penalties in the Northwest Matt Morrison Junior Cup

Killymoon Rangers lost out to Warrenpoint Town Reserves in the Mid-Ulster Shield

INTERMEDIATE

LEAGUE

BELFAST CELTIC 4 - 4 WAKEHURST

Celtic went in front after Denver Taggart scored on the 8th minute. Wakehurst replied immediately when Glenn Vance scored. Celtic went two goals clear scored by Brendan Glackin 22nd minute and Shane McKernan on the 24th minute. Glenn Vance scored his second goal for Wakehurst on the 37th minute then an own goal saw Celtic three goals clear on the 42nd minute. Wakehurst never gave up they chase and got a deserved point thanks to goals scored by Jason Paul 65th and Aron Smyth 70th minutes.

BALLYNURE OB 1 - 3 BALLYMONEY UNITED

Ballynure went in front after Alexander Crawford scored on the 43rd minute. Ballymoney were back on level terms after Josh Rohdich scored on the 58th minute and went in front after Josh Rohdich scored his second goal on the 61st minute. Ballynure tried hard to get back into the game then on the 94thmonute Gareth McLaughlin sealed the win for Ballymoney Referee Mr John Rossborough

DUNLOY 1 0 BRANTWOOD

Both teams tended to cancel each other out from the start and at half-time Dunloy led by a converted penalty by Conal Doherty on the 42nd minute. The second half was similar to the first then Brantwood had a player sent off on the 75th minute followed by two players sent off on the 90th minute.

DONEGAL CELTIC 2 0 COOKSTOWN YOUTH

There was noting to choose between the teams until James Mullan opened the scoring in favour of Celtic on the 58th minute. This goal separated the teams until Philip McPeake scored a second goal for Celtic on the 82nd minute.

COAGH UNITED 3 - 2 WELLINGTON REC

The Rec went in front after Ryan McNickle scored on the 17th minutemen Aaron Campbell converted a penalty for Coagh on the 20thminute. Then Rec went ahead for a second time after Christopher Guiller converted a penalty on the 25th minute. Another penalty converted by Aaron Campbell on the 54th minute saw the teams back level. Coagh had a man sent off on the 77thminute then with the game was in stoppage time Mark Kelly scored the winner for Coagh on the 93rd minute.

GLEBE RANGERS 7 - 1 CHIMNEY CORNER

Glebe went four goals clear scored by Luke Mitchell 8th, Jackie Morrison 19th, Darren Henderson 35th and 53rd minutes. The Corner got a goal back scored by Reece Gilmour on the 71st minute. Glebe got three more goals scored by Jackie Morrison 79th, Darren Henderson 81st and Scotty Douglas 91st minutes.

BALLYCLARE NORTH END 1 - 3 RED STAR

North End went in front after Richard Thompson scored on the 13th minute this goal separating the teams until Noel O’Connor scored for the Star on the 77th minute. Noel O’Connor went on to complete his hat-trick with goals on the 78th and 92nd minutes.

GREENISLAND III 3 - 4 RATHCOOLE

Greenisland went in front after Mark McKeown scored on the 15th minute and added to this when Jonathan Luke scored on the 39th minute. Rathcoole got back level with a brace of goals scored by Ian Hunter on the 45th and 50th minutes. Greenisland went back in front after Nathan Greer scored on the 53rd minute but Ian Hunter scored another brace of goals on the 75th and 85th minutes to win the game for Rathcoole.

LOUGHSIDE 0 - 3 BALYNURE OB ‘B’

Ballynure went in front after Mark Liburn scored on the 3rd minute then went on to score a second goal on the 23rd minute. Loughside had a man sent off on the 74th minute then conceded a third goal on the 79th minute when Jake Smith scored for Ballynure.

WELLINGTON REC II 4 - 0 ANTRIM ROVERS RESERVES

The Rec went in front after Jonathan Norrell scored on the 13th minute then doubled their lead after Richard Wilson scored on the 43rd minute. The Rec got two more goals scored by Arran Restrict on the 50th minute and Jamie Magill on the 69th minute.

RATHCOOLE 2 - 3 PORTRUSH

Portrush went to goals in front scored by David Dunlop on the 4th minute and Adam McNeil 37th minute. Rathcoole got back on level terms after Aaron Lindsay scored on the 50th minute and Adam Doyle on the 85th minute. Time was almost up when Gary Hamill sored the winner for Portrush on the 85th minute.

BELFAST ATHLETIC 5 - 3 TULLYMONRE SWIFTS

The Athletic went three goals ahead scored by Dave Finlay Sean Burns and Martin Reilly on the 8th, 15th, and 19th minutes. Tullymore got a goal back after Chris Leonard scored on the 21st minute then back level after Sean Chanlon and Daniel Lundy scored on the 31st and 59th minutes, The Athletic went on to score two more goals through Harry Bassett and Dave Finlay on the 68th and 71st minutes to win.

ANTRIM ROVERS 2 - 1 RANDALSTOWN RAMBLERS

The Rovers went in front after Dean Wright scored on the 4th minute and held this lead until Finn Clarke scored for the Ramblers on the 55th minute. The Rovers went in front for a second time after Dean Wright scored his second goal on the 59th minute to win the game.

GREENCASTLE ROVERS 8 - 3 4th NEWTOWNABBEY OB

WOODLANDS 4 - 3 CLOGHMILLS

Goals scored by Stuart McCullough and Samuel Chambers on the 20th and 28th minutes. Cloghmills got a goal back after Shane Crutchley scored on the 37th minute but goals scored by Benjamin Morrison and Simon Scott on the 51st and 66th minutes saw Woodlands three goals in front. Clogmills came back strongly with goals scored by Shane Crutchley and Derek Allen on the 79th and 88th minutes but Woodlands won by the odd goal.

NORTHWEST MATT MORRISON JUNIOR CUP 2nd ROUND

DESERTMARTIN SWIFTS 2 - 2 (aet) MAGHERAFELT SKY BLUES

The Sky Blues went two goals ahead scored by Pearse McAlynn and Ciaran Monaghan on the 32nd and 70th minutes. The Swifts finished the game strongly taking it to extra-time with goals scored by Ryan Brown on the 79th and 90th minutes. No goals were scored in extra time with penalties taken which the Swifts won by 5-4.

KILLYMOON RANGERS 0 - 3 WARRENPOINT TOWN RES

The town went in front after Danda Shotayo scored on the 23rd minute followed by Mark Lennon scoring a second on the 66th minute. Time was almost up when Ryan McCartan scored number three for the Town on the 86th minute.
