MATCH REPORTS

Week-ending Saturday 2nd September 2023

Saturday past saw all the Intermediate and Junior teams in action. This oncoming Saturday will see Intermediate Teams competing in the Divisional Competitions as well as league games being played.

Three junior Teams will be playing in the IFA Junior Cup with the remainder playing in League Games.

INTERMEDIATE

LEAGUE

COOKSTOWN YOUTH 2 - 2 CHIMNEY CORNER

The Corner went in front after Leon Carley converted a penalty on the 14th minute then doubled their lead when Cameron Eagleson scored on the 44th minute. The Youth never gave up getting a point after David Monaghan scored a brace of goals on the 83rd and 90th minutes.

MAIDEN CITY 0 - 1 DONEGAL CELTIC

There was little to choose between he two teams throughout the entire game. The only difference was the goal scored bv Niall Dixon on the 44thminute that saw Celtic collect all three points from the game.

DESERTMARTIN 1 - 2 NEWTOWNE

After a steady start by both teams Cormac Quigley put the visitors in front on the 30th minute. The home side then had man sent off on the 58th minute that did not help their cause. The Martins got back on level terms after Mark Scott scored on the 87th minute then Newtowne replied with Jack Warnock scoring the winner on the 94th minute.

WELLINGTON REC 6 - 0 BALLYNURE OB

The Rec took an early lead with Christopher Guiller scoring on the 5th minute. A brace of goals scored by Curtis Crawford on the 27th and 30th minutes saw the Rec three goals clear. The Rec went on to scored three more goals through Aaron Smyth 44th, Jonathan McManus 46th and Curtis Crawford 65th minutes without reply.

BALLYMONEY UNITED 3 - 1 RATHCOOLE

The United went in front after Rafferty McKay scored on the 12th minute then Rathcoole had a man sent off on the 18th minute. Josh McGreevey equalised for Rathcoole on the 23rd minute before Jake Francis put Ballymoney back in front on the 39th minute. Ballymoney sealed the win when Paul Keane converted a penalty on the 56th minute.

BRANTWOOD 1 - 3 BELFAST CELTIC

Both teams played it tight until Celtic went in front through a Penalty converted by Rory Patterson on the 40th minute. Celtic increased their lead when Rory Patterson scored his second goal on the 65th minute followed by Anthony Nelson scoring number three on the 78th minute. Brantwood who had a man sent off on the 82nd minute never gave up getting a goal scored by Jack Rainey on the 89th minute.

St JAMES SWIFTS 2 - 1 NEWBUILDINGS UNITED

The visitors went in front with a goal scored by Matthew Harkin scored on the 10th minute. This goal separated the teams until Jamie Sharvin scored the equaliser for St James on the 76th minute. Play was then in the 90th minute when Ciaran Hyland converted a penalty for St James to win the game.

STRABANE ATHLETIC 2 - 1 WAKEHURST

Both defences were in top for the first-half resulting in no goals cored at half-time. Things changed in the second half with Warner Mullen scoring for the home side on the 52nd minute. Wakehurst hit back immediately with Callum Ross scoring on the 55th minute. Warner Mullen then scored his second goal on the 79th minute which proved to be the winning goal. JUNIOR DIVISION

ONE

GREENCASTLE ROVERS 4 - 3 BELFAST ATHLETIC

The Rovers were in front after Sean Southam scored on the 5th minute this goal separating the teams until Harry Bassett scored for the Athletic on the 41st minute. The Athletic went in front after Dave Finlay scored on the 51st minute then Ryan McClary equalised for the Rovers on the 52nd minute. Sean Southam scored his second goal on the 63rd minute followed by Dave Finlay scoring his second on the 73rd minute for Athletic. The Rovers who had a man sent off on the 88th minute and their manager sent off earlier in the game got the winner on the 95th minute scored by Ryan McClory.

COOKSTOWN OLYMPIC 3 - 2 DESERTMARTIN SWIFTS

The Olympic went in front on the 2nd minute through a goal scored by Ryan Pickering and held the lead until David Lennox converted a penalty for the Swifts on the 21st minute. The Olympic went in front for a second time after Connor O’Neil scored on the 32nd minute but saw this cancelled out when Paul McGrath scored for the Swifts on the 47th minute. The Olympic went in front for a third time after Ryan Pickering scored his second goal on the 67th minute but this time there was no reply from the Swifts.

St JAMES SWIFTS Res 4 - 1 KILLYMOON RANGERS

The Swifts went two goals in front scored by Caoinhin Norney on the 8th and 35th minutes. Killymoon got a goal back scored by Richard Donaghy on the 37th minute before goals scored by Daniel Mullan and Caoinhin Norney on the 55th and 61st minutes sealed the win for the Swifts.

GREENISLAND DEV 0 - 1 3rd BALLYCLARE OB

This was a closely contested game throughout the ninety minutes with a goal scored by Jason Cowan deciding the result in favour of the Old Boys.

INSPIRED COMMUNITY 1 - 7 MALONEYS

Maloneys went in at half-time leading by two goals to one then scored another Five in the second half. Goals were scored by for Maloneys Christopher Harris 3 (2 Penalties), Ryan Stewart, Steve McConnell, Samuel Duff and Matthew West one each and McGerald Woha for the home side.

Sofia Farmer Forfeit the game 3-0 no players registered before Deadline.

TWO

BALLYCLARE NORTH END 1 - 4 AHOGHILL THISTLE DEV

Ahoghill went in front after Zach Clarke scored on the 2nd minute then added two more goals scored by Jamie Archer 34th and Lorenzo Dawkins 40th minutes. North End replied to this with Grahame McFarlane scoring on the 44th minute. Ahoghill sealed the win when Jamie Archer scored his second goal on the 77th minute.

RED STAR 0 - 0 LOUGHSIDE

Both teams created chances in this game to score and it was surprising no goals were scored resulting in a point each at the final whistle.

NEWINGTON RANGERS 2 - 4 BALLYNURE OB ‘B’

After a steady start by both teams the Nure went two goals up scored by Pater Wilson and Gareth Agnew on the 23rd and 29th minutes. An own goal on the 48th minute made it three nil before Ryan Lowry scored number four on the 66th minute. Newington never gave up getting two goals scored by Alexander Kerr and Christopher Steele on the 70th and 90th minutes.

NORTH BELFAST UNITED 3 - 4 GREENCASTLE ROVERS II

The visitors went in front after Caolan McMullan scored on the 4th minute then were two in front after Sean McKeown converted a penalty on the 25th minute. United came back to level the game with goals scored by Mark Davey and Nathan Mullan on the 30th and 34th minutes. The Rovers went two goals ahead again after Michael Toland scored a brace on the 38th and 65th minutes. Time was then running down when Joe Larkin scored a third goal for the United on the 81st minute.

BELFAST CELTIC RES 2 - 4 HIGHTOWN ATHLETIC

The Reserves went in front after Ciaran McKee scored on the 1st minute. The Athletic replied with Gavin Knipe scoring on the 8th minute followed by Christopher Devlin putting them in front on the 32nd minute. Ciaran McKee scored his second goal on the 66th minute to level the score followed by Gavin Knipe and Jordan Byrne scoring for the Athletic on the 80th and 95th minutes.

A black mark on the game was both teams having two players sent off Celtic on the 71st and 85 and Athletic on the 53rd and 63rd minutes.

NORTH BALLYMENA RGS 0 - 11 DONEGAL CELTIC RES

The Rangers had no answer to the goal scoring efforts of the Celtic reserves who scored 11 goals without

Aaron Taci 40th and 76, OG 46th, Darren Gallagher 55th and Mark Finnegan-Lowe 70th minutes.
