It certainly was a surprise we only lost one game on Saturday due to a waterlogged pitch. Hopefully there is an improvement in the weather this week as it could cost us with games off on Saturday 21st January.

Saturday saw the first games played in the McReynold's, Linda Welshman Cups and Canada Trophy and it is planned to play more of these ties during January and early February.

INTERMEDIATE LEAGUE

DESERTMARTIN 1 - 2 GLEBE RANGERS

After a steady start by both teams Dean Henderson scored the opening goal for Glebe on the 21st minute. This goal separated the teams until Scott Douglas scored a second goal for Glebe on the 65th minute. The Martins never gave up the chase getting a deserved goal when Michael Stewart scored on the 92nd minute.

McREYNOLDS CUP 1st ROUND

WELLINGTON REC 2 - 1 BALLYNURE OB

Ballynure went in front after David McCullough scored on the 10th minute then saw Ryan McNickle score the equaliser on the 17th minute. Both teams then had a few chances to score before Curtis Crawford scored what proved to be the winning goal on the 71st minute for Wellington.

COOKSTOWN YOUTH 4 - 2 WAKEHURST

The Youth went in front after Abel Ferreira scored on the 3rd minute then Wakehurst equalised after Jack McMurray scored on the 29th minute. The Youth went in front again after Alex Machedo scored on the 32nd minute again Wakehurst hit back with Glenn Vance equalising on the 36th minute. The Youth went in front for a third time after James Leslie scored on the 61st minute and sealed the win when Mark Megarry scored number four on the 87th minute.

COAGH UNITED 3 - 1 DUNLOY

Dunloy went in front after Jack Magee scored on the 43rd minute then saw Sam Boylan equalise for Coagh on the 48th minute. Coagh went in front after Mark Kelly scored on the 52nd minute. Coagh then got the all- important fourth goal when Dunloy conceded an own goal on the 81st minute.

BRANTWOOD 0 - 1 BALLYMONEY UNITED

Both teams created a number of good chances during this game but the only one taken was by Josh Rohdich on the 64th minute when he scored for Ballymoney.

CHIMNEY CORNER 3 - 6 St JAMES SWIFTS

A penalty converted by Aaron Martin on the 7th minute put the Swifts ahead. Thomas Logan doubled the Swifts advantage before goals scored by Stephen Kelson and Joseph Murray on the 28th and 34th minutes saw the teams back on level terms. The Swifts then went three goals ahead with goals scored by Niall Peoples 41st, John Savage 46th and Eamon Gallagher 51st minutes followed by the Corner having a man sent off on the 55th minute. Two more goals score by Aaron Martin and John Savage on the 56th and 57th minutes extended the Swifts lead before the Corner had a second an sent off on the 60th minute. The Corner got a goal back after Joseph Murray scored on the 68th minute before Matthew McDonald scored the Swifts final goal on the 82nd minute.

LEAGUE Div One

AHOGHILL THISTLE DEV 2 - 2 RATHCOOLE

Rathcoole took an early lead after David Moore scored on the 2nd minute then doubled their advantage after Josh McGreevey scored on the 67th minute. Time was then running down when Jamie Willigan converted a penalty for Ahoghill on the 86th minute this being followed by the equaliser scored by Robbie McGaughey on the 94th minute.

COOKSTOWN OLYMPIC 1 0 KILLYMOON RANGERS

This was a corker of a game between two evenly matched local teams. Chances came and went for both but only one chances was taken when James McGahan scored for the Olympic on the 52nd minute.

CANADA TROPHY 1st ROUND

NORTH BELFAST UNITED 2 - 3 (aet) St JAMES SWIFTS RES

The North went in front after Liam Gowdy scored on the 7th minute then Stephen McDonald equalised on the 12th minute and then put St James in front on the 68th minute. Nathan McMullan equalised for the North on the 75th minute which took the games into extra-time. The Swifts were then awarded a penalty kick which was converted by Ethan McCormick on the 96th minute to win the game.

LINDA WELSHMAN MEMORIAL CUP 1st ROUND 1st Leg

RED STAR 10 - 3 RATHCOOLE RESERVES

The Star took a six nil lead in this game before half-time and never looked back. Goals were scored for the Star by Lloyd Watters on the 6th, 13th, 16th, 28th, 86th and 90th minutes, Daniel Nelson 33rd and 48th minutes, Stuart Walker 12th and Matthew McFaul minutes. Rathcoole goals were scored by Kyle Leighton 46th, Ian Hunter 51st and Harry Bassett 78th minutes.

SOFIA FARMER 0 - 6 BALLYNURE OB ‘B’

A Hat-trick of goals scored by Christopher Crowe on the38th, 51st and 59th minutes saw Ballynure clear. Three more goals for Ballynure followed scored by Ryan Barnett 80th, Jake Smith 85th and Blane Warren on the 90th minutes.

ANTRIM ROVERS RES 0 - 3 GREENISLAND III

Greenisland went in front after Ben McAllister scored on the 11th minute then doubled their advantage after Adam Flanagan scored on the 43rd minute. Ben McAllister then scored his second goal on the 44th minute which completed the scoring.

BALLYCLARE NORTH END 5 - 3 NEWINGTON RANGERS

Newington went in front after Raymond Lusty scored on the 2nd minute then Glenn Bell equalised on the 8th minute. North End went in front after Stephen Howe scored on the 10th minute then Alexander Kerr equalised for the Rangers on the 15th minute. No more goals were scored until Richard Thompson scored a hat-tick on the 66th, 74th and 96th minutes to win the game for North End

LOUGHSIDE FC 0 - 2 WELLINGTON REC II

The Rec went in front after Jamie Magill scored on the 5th minute then after this early goal play settled down a bit. Half-time was almost reached when Ryan Hill scored a second goal for the Rec this result staying until the final whistle.

3rd BALLYCLARE OB 5 - 1 GREENCASTLE ROVERS II

The first goal in the game was scored by Josh Steele on the 40th minute putting the Old Boys ahead. Goals scored by Bradley Yip 45th and James Dickson 59th minutes saw the Old Boys extend their lead. Michael Smyth pulled a goal back for the Rovers on the 73rd minute then a brace of goals scored by Joel O’Neil on the 88th and 89th minutes sealed the win for the Old Boys.

GREENCASTLE ROVERS 2 - 0 ABBEYVIEW

The Rovers went in front after Mark Tutin scored on the 15th minute then had to wait until the 80th minute when Sean Southam scored their second goal to seal the win.

CRUMLIN STAR FC II 3 - 2 ANTRIM ROVERS

The home side went in front after Patric Waring scored on the 10thmjinute then goals scored by Dean Wright on the 21st and Ben Steele on the 24th minutes put Antrim in front. The scores were level again on the 46th minute after Cormac Mullan scored for the home side then got his second goal and the winner on the 76th minute.
